Grateful for Instability (And What That Means)

From homelessness to 10 acres: what I learned about systems, gratitude, and what actually matters.

It's Thanksgiving week, and I've been thinking about what I'm actually grateful for.

Not the surface stuff. The real things.

I'm grateful for instability.

Every unstable moment in my life—22 schools, homelessness at 16, not knowing where I'd sleep—taught me that systems matter more than circumstances.

When institutions fail you, you learn which systems actually hold up.

That's what this whole project is really about. Seed & Society, The Connectors Market, the AI Eco Micro-Resilience Campus.

In it, I talk about:

  • The five things I'm genuinely grateful for (land, teachers, hard lessons, my kids watching us build, margin)

  • What I'm NOT grateful for (and why it drives this work)

  • What this has to do with you if you're thinking about building differently

And if you're a working parent drowning in to-dos, I put together something for you: 15 AI prompts that give you 15 hours back. Free guide at the bottom of the post.

Happy Thanksgiving.
