Unlock Unlimited W‐2 Wealth & Plant Your Freedom
How I earned half a million last year in tech sales while staying home with my kids. This week: permaculture guilds and sovereignty tools.
💰 THE SECRET MOST EMPLOYEES NEVER DISCOVER
Are you trading precious time for a salary someone else capped?
Last year, I earned just under $500K in tech sales, while raising two kids, designing our first permaculture systems, and starting my doctorate.
But this isn’t just about income.
It’s about what that income made possible:
Buying land
Funding real assets
Reclaiming time, direction, and legacy
Let me show you how this applies to your own freedom journey, especially if you're still in a W-2 role.
W-2 RICHES ARE REAL: THE COMMISSION ADVANTAGE
Commission is the great equalizer.
It’s one of the few ways W‑2 employees can break out of capped compensation and reclaim leverage.
Why Commission Changes Everything:
Unlimited earnings – No artificial ceiling on your income potential
True meritocracy – Results matter more than degrees or networks
Financial acceleration – One great quarter can erase years of debt
Inflation protection – Your income can rise with the cost of living
Portable skills – Sales expertise transfers across careers and ventures
“Base salaries feel safe, but they're capped at someone else's math. Commission checks don't care about pedigrees or glass ceilings, they care about results. It rewards people who can solve problems, build trust, and close gaps — skills that translate across every area of life.”
I will always have love for a good sales job.
Yes, credentials still help.
Connections still matter.
But once you’re in? It’s you vs. quota. And that’s power.
If you’re already in sales, double down. If you’re not, consider adding a commission‑based stream: affiliate offers, consulting, or even referral bonuses inside your current role. The goal is to plug at least one uncapped valve into your income mix.

📈 MY REAL-WORLD RESULTS
In 2024, I earned nearly $500K selling talent management software to Higher Ed.
Over the past three years, I’ve made close to $900K in tech sales. (before taxes…oh taxes. That’s a whole other newsletter)
That money built more than savings, it built systems:
Fruit trees and water catchment
Paid-off tools and long-term assets
Breathing room to raise my kids in real time
In January, I stepped into an even more aligned GovTech role — helping governments:
Accelerate access to critical services
Upgrade the digital systems people rely on every day
Improve the way public programs reach families like mine, and yours
This isn’t hustle culture.
This is mission-aligned income that funds real sovereignty. When you believe in the product, the mission, the why behind what you offer, the work becomes something more powerful.
I get to build a better world and create an income that gives my children options.
I honestly don’t think I’ll ever leave GovTech.
But it’s powerful knowing that, because of how I’ve built this, I could still retire before 40 if I wanted to.
That’s the kind of leverage Seed & Society is all about: working when you want, on what you believe in, with full ownership of your future.
🌱DIRT DIARIES: WEALTH GROWS IN GUILDS
Back to the soil.
This weekend I traded the laptop for a shovel and planted our first companion guilds:
Marigolds Pest patrol + bright pops of color
Lemon Balm Pollinator magnet + calming tea leaves
Chives Nitrogen fixer + the best baked‑potato topping on earth
What it reminded me of: nothing grows alone.
Not fruit trees. Not movements. Not families trying to unplug from broken systems and build something real.
Next steps: haul in lots of mulch and woodchips, then layer cardboard to smother weeds. It’s hard work. Southern sun, sore shoulders, endless reps with compost, but every seed feels like another deposit into our long‑term sovereignty account.
Why guilds are wealth lessons in disguise
Garden Principle | Sales Application | Wealth Lesson |
---|---|---|
Plant supportive companions | Build cross-functional allies | Synergy multiplies output |
Apply mulch early | Automate follow-ups | Protect what you plant |
Study your microclimate | Read market signals | Context beats generic playbooks |
Use data-driven irrigation | Leverage AI insights | Smart tools magnify effort |
And yes: I’m using AI even here — mapping optimal plant spacing, designing water flow, and simulating microclimates before we commit to infrastructure. Technology and land stewardship don’t have to be opposites. In our world, they strengthen each other.

From Commission to Compost
This work is the same, Whether I’m sending proposals or hauling mulch.
It’s strategic. It’s slow at first. But it compounds.
So here’s your reminder: You don’t need to choose between wealth and roots. You can have both. You can build both. You just need the tools, and the community, to make it real.
We’re not chasing status here.
We’re designing systems that give us:
Ownership
Autonomy
Intergenerational peace
Whether you’re closing deals or layering compost, the truth is the same:
Sovereignty is a skill set. And you can learn it.
Building wealth isn’t just about what you earn — it’s about what you keep, what you grow, and what supports your life in the long haul.
